Why an archive?
Labels are lost. Names are forgotten. Family histories scatter. Even a modest found object can hold evidence of a maker, a place, a life, or a tradition of craftsmanship. Recording that evidence gives the next collector somewhere to begin.
Some people keep journals. An accountant keeps journal entries.
